James Thornton

James Thornton grew up in Stockport and studied Economics at the University of Manchester before falling into iGaming journalism in 2014, when he started writing slot reviews to fund a postgrad he never finished.

Over twelve years he has tested hundreds of UK and offshore casinos, specialising in non Gamstop operators since the 2020 UKGC tightening pushed so many British players abroad. He runs every review with his own money and documents the cashout timings himself.

Outside work he coaches an under-12s football team in Sale, collects vinyl, and is a long-suffering Stockport County season-ticket holder.
